Actually, you know me slightly 😊, but in your poll I wanted to check 2 boxes for “What do you want to read about?” In addition to storytelling, I love reading about spending a month in one place. How do you absorb a place? How can/do you engage with people with whom you might actually become friends?—accepting that people like that are gems that don’t come along every month or every place.
Hi Chris, I met you and Steve in Philly last fall, and was still working. I launched on December 1st, and am having a great time so far! Your books, Substack, FaceBook and meeting you have really helped me get started and have the confidence to embrace the nomad life. It was tricky balancing the tourist/traveler distinction at first, but I’m getting the hang of it. BYW… thanks for the tip about Trusted House Sitters. I start my 7th sit tomorrow, two weeks at a beach town in Portugal!
Love this poll so you can really engage with what your readers want from this 'stack. Brava! We just celebrated our one year full-time nomad slow-travelversary. We've gotten lots of tips from you and Steve on the Toob, and I recently found this newsletter. I turned 60 right before Christmas, so yippee for your banner year. I, too, write about traveling...plus a little midlife reinvention, oldstering, my journey towards publication as I query my travel-survival memoir, and no liw & then mention boat life having full-time cruised on our powercat for 4 years. I love finding kindred spirits, and look forward to however you shape this newsletter based on the poll results. Fair winds (I know it's not a sailboat) on the rest of your repo cruise!
I'd like to hear more about your switch from Genki to Mondial. You're the first nomad I have read about using Mondial. I'm using Genki now but the cost goes up when I turn 60 (this summer). If you've had to make any claims, I'd love to read an honest review of Mondial!
Thanks Chris. Are you on Facebook? I just posted about my claim vs Genki. I will copy it here: Insurance report:
I just successfully filed a claim with Mondial. I went to a dermatologist (a walk-in Botox place) and got four moles removed. All benign. Out of pocket was 200 euro plus 20 euro for creams. Mondial reimbursed for the total minus 50 euro to my Paypal.
Review: Their claims process was not as easy as Genki. Their chat is very good I paid 400 euro for an annual Schengen policy. Their world policy (includes USA) is 800 euro. I'm 59. You do not have to be a Schengen resident to get a Schengen policy.
We had a conversation once on Zoom, you were living in Denver then, have just published “walks in Denver” guide, and I was a resident in Boulder, CO and joined Darcy’s Walk2Connect.🌸🤩

What great topics! I’ll put them in the queue.

Didn't we go hiking and get some soul food?? So glad your launch is going well!!
Yes, for a little walk around a nature preserve. And I remember that the soul food was NOT vegan! I hope we cross paths again!

Happy nomadversary to you Wendy! And thanks for reaching out. I'll follow you too! I'm particularly interested in your publication experience.

Awesome…thank you! Yes, I’m on Facebook so I’ll check your post there too.
I can't wait to read a novel about nomads!
thanks
As you know, I've become a bit obsessed with your concept of 'married solo'. Others might be interested in reading my piece about it: https://thetravelparadox.substack.com/p/part-2-travelling-solo-while-married?r=5i2n0
Honestly, I really enjoy how transparent you both are. I also enjoy your YouTube videos.
