17 Sea Days
Could you do it?
It’s transition time in the world of Nomads. Chances are, if you follow any Nomads, they’re probably getting on or off a ship at the moment. It’s reposition season.
From Continent to Continent
Twice a year, the cruise industry moves its fleet from one market to another. So they might go from the Australia market to Mexico, the Mediterranean to the Caribbean. When the boats move, the cruise lines offer one-way fares. These fares include the transit and of course your room, food, and entertainment for the length of the cruise.
To a Nomad, repositioning cruises are deals that can’t be beat. The price is almost always much less than flying plus the price of hotels and food for the same period. The bad news is that they are dirty and polluting (see my article below.) So as we sort through the carbon footprint issues, we’re on our second cruise of two.
We got on a Carnival cruise in Barcelona and cruised to Cape Canaveral in 13 days. There, we stayed the night with a friend, picked up a car rental, drove to Miami, and boarded an NCL ship from Miami to Seattle via the Panama Canal for 18 days.
The Day Aboard
Yesterday, we enjoyed a day transitting the Canal. We loved it. In between, we’ve had port stops in Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico. On our sea days, Steve and I have both been hammering out words and more words for the novels we’re crafting. We keep laughing about how the New York Times will just have to accept both of our best sellers, and Hollywood needs to start casting. I’m imagining my two friends PJ and Chris Cline to play Steve and me.
We’ll be in the US and Canada for the summer. I’ve posted our schedule before, but here it is again, slightly modified. Now is the time to reach out to us for a visit. We hope to see you this summer.
An incredible story of self-love, adventure, and intrepid spirit by a gal who has nothing to lose and everything to gain, including joining the Peace Corps. Read it here.
Why is Steve surprised to see Einstein? I’ll tell you next month.

Make sure you reach out when you're in Van this summer! xo
